Whether it’s a new product or service, development is one of the most important activities your organization can do.

Not only do you have the chance to create differentiating innovation, but you’ll also have a major impact on the company’s competitive position for years to come. You are literally designing the future.

In this in-depth workshop taught live and online by experienced coaches, you’ll learn a proven and holistic development framework that aligns the entire enterprise to accelerate time to market, reduce design rework, reduce development team frustration, and deliver what the customer wants and needs in a new product or service.

Stop Struggling

Decisions made during development determine future costs, margins, sales, market share, performance quality, brand reputation, employee morale -- in short, the company’s overall success for years to come.

But most companies struggle to do development well. Products and services don’t live up to customer expectations. Projects go over budget due to late (and costly) changes. Value stream stakeholders aren’t effectively integrated into the development process. Projects take too long or create difficulties at launch.

Stop struggling. In Designing the Future: A Lean Product Development Immersive Learning Experience, experienced coaches will introduce you to the powerful framework of Lean Product and Process Development (LPPD) to create the foundation for a robust innovation system.

Learning Objectives

LPPD is not an adaptation of lean manufacturing to development. It’s a unique set of principles using proven methods and tools -- such as observation for customer value, concept paper, obeya management, and rapid learning -- that have proven effective in development environments. LPPD is a systems approach that includes people, processes, and tools that starts with understanding the customer.

The LPPD framework works because it aligns the enterprise across functional silos including key suppliers to consistently create and deliver exceptional new products and services over and over again – now and into the future.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand the LPPD guiding principles by applying them in a simulated product development process.

  • Align the organization on what the product must be for both the customer and the business.

  • Manage development work visually in an obeya room for effective and timely collaboration.

  • Apply methods for understanding the customer’s experience and needs so you and your team can create products or services that they will love.

  • Understand how LPPD processes and tools enable people to achieve their full potential.

  • Create a plan to improve your development system.

  • Position yourself for further success by acquiring new skills and practical insights from expert coaches, case studies of different industries, and the perspectives of fellow attendees.

What’s Included

With minimal time spent on theory, the workshop emphasizes learning how to apply LPPD through a simulated development project with a cross-functional team under the guidance of two LPPD thought leaders. They’ll help you plan how to implement what you learned back at work.

You and your team will receive 12.5 hours of in-depth instruction, conveniently broken up into five two and a half hour sessions over a week,

All classes run 11:00 am to 1:30 pm EDT

  • Monday, November 8, 2021
  • Tuesday, November 9, 2021
  • Wednesday, November 10, 2021

Who Should Attend

  • Practitioners who develop products or services across all industries.
